Kotoko chief Samuel Opoku Nti has touted the credentials of new coach David Duncan, claiming the 51-year-old is the ‘best thing’ to happen to the club in recent times.

The arrival of the tough-talking coach has brought intense competition in the team, culminating in their recent surge in form in the Ghanaian top-flight.

Kotoko have catapulted to 8th on the league table thanks to their impressive 3-1 win at Bechem and boardroom.

The club is on course to defend their FA Cup after thrashing third-tier side Paga Crocodile 4-0 in Bolgatanga on Wednesday and current manager Samuel Opoku Nti has been impressed with the impact the ex-Hearts trainer has had on the team since his arrival.

“Before we appointed Duncan, some of the supporters in Kumasi were averse to his appointment but we managed to convince them to get behind our decision and they did,” he told Accra-based Happy FM

Duncan is the best thing to happen to Kotoko in recent times - he is the centre of attraction. Since he came to Kotoko, there has been a new wind of change in the club.

He Added: “I wish you were at the airport to see the sort of songs that were sang for Duncan on our return from Algeria. Prior to our victory against Bechem United, we had played seven games without a win but he managed to give us a resounding victory. Hitherto, our best result at Bechem was a draw.”

Kotoko have launched a campaign dubbed ‘Operation fill stadium for Duncan’ ahead of their Premier League tie against Liberty Professionals.

The move is to marshall support for the highly-rated trainer on his debut game at the Baba Yara stadium.
