Heartland defender, Brownbraye Okpus has said he is 100% fit for the top flight matchday 13 clash against Sunshine Stars on Sunday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

The Naze Millionaires strongman was a sore miss in the side’s matchday 12 clash 1-2 loss at Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in Ibadan after he pulled a shoulder injury in an early match against Rivers United.

Okpus said he is quite excited to have recovered on time for the must-win-clash against the Owena Waves on Sunday.

“I’m 100% okay and quite hopeful to feature in the NPFL matchday 13 clash against Sunshine Stars on Sunday in Owerri.

“I was fit for the clash at 3SC but the team doctor insisted that I should rest for at least one more week.

“I’m excited to have been given a clean bill of health by the medical team to start against Sunshine Stars.

“Though the defeat at 3SC was painful at least a draw would have compensated our hard work in the match but we have pushed the memory off our hearts.

“Right now our focus is on the matchday 13 clash against Sunshine Stars and our target is nothing but to claim the whole three points at stake.

“Sunshine Stars are good side who benched us for the points last season on same Owerri turf we have told ourselves that there will not be a repeat this time around.

“Football is a mind game and we have resolved to get it right against Sunshine Stars as well as take the mentality to the other matches on the season’s calendar,” said Okpus to supersport.com.

Heartland have 14 points in the kitty from possible 36 in the 12-week old top flight with a game to spare at champions and neighbours, Enyimba.
