Ogunmodede Confirms Mbaoma’s Return Ahead of CAF Champions League Clash with Sundowns
Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has delivered a major boost to the club’s CAF Champions League campaign, confirming that striker Victor Mbaoma is fit and available for selection ahead of their second preliminary round encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.
Mbaoma, who has been out of action since the opening game of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season due to injury, missed Remo Stars’ impressive first-round victory over US Zilimandjou of Comoros. However, Ogunmodede revealed that the forward has fully recovered and will feature against the South African champions.
“Victor is back in training and will be ready for the game against Sundowns. His experience and presence will give us more attacking options,” Ogunmodede said.
Remo Stars, aiming to reach the CAF Champions League group stage for the first time in the club’s history, will host the first leg in Ikenne before travelling to South Africa for the decisive return fixture.
The return of Mbaoma, a former APR FC of Rwanda striker, is expected to strengthen the Sky Blue Stars’ frontline and boost their chances of pulling off a memorable result against one of Africa’s elite teams.
