Nasarawa United defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club to lift themselves out of the relegation zone in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Nelson Abiam'a solitary goal in the first half of the day encounter was all the Solid Miners needed to overcome the Oluyole Warriors at the New Jos Stadium.

It was the hosts that controlled proceedings in the early part of the game however the visitors were able to keep them at bay.

They couldn't be held for long though as the home team got the lead in the 23rd minute courtesy of Abiam.

A lead they held on to till the end of the second forty-five despite a couple occasions where the boys from Ibadan attempted to level things.

In the second half, as expected, it was 3SC that came out with the intensity to score making the game an end to end situation.

It was the hosts that were more threatening at goal as goalkeeper, Okemute had to make a couple of saves to the rescue of his team.

Samuel Ayanrinde and Ayo Adejubu tried to restore parity in the encounter, but Nasarawa United held on for the 1-0 win.

The win takes United temporarily to 8 on the league group A log while Shooting Stars remain 6.
