Shooting Stars Sports Club coach Gbenga Ogunbote has hailed his players for their remarkable show against Plateau United on Wednesday in their match day 11 encounter of the ongoing 2023 Abridged Nigeria Premier Football League, citing it was a big relief for the team, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

After going a goal down very early in the game, Shooting Stars fought back to earn a 3-2 victory over their visitors at the Lekan Salami Stadium Adamasingba Ibadan thanks to a brace from Ayanrinde Samuel and one from Ghali Falke.

“It is a big relief for the team, for sometime we have not been able to get three points both at home and on the road. It will enhance the confidence of the players and it will give them some kind of relief. But the important thing is that we thank God."

The former Remo Stars coach believes the win will serve as a tonic needed to get the desired result in subsequent games beginning with the matchday 12 trip to Akure where they will square up against Kwara United of Ilorin.

“We take it one after the other. Kwara United came here while we were sharing the field and they forced us to a draw. We pray that as we go there for the return leg, we will take our chances and we pray for a level playing ground.”

The win was Shooting Stars 3rd of the campaign and it helped push them out of the drop zone to 7th on the 10 teams group A table.
