Shooting Stars Sports Club defeated Rivers United on Saturday to leapfrog the 2022 champions at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

An on the stroke of first half penalty by captain Malomo Taofeek sealed the Pride of Rivers in the NPFL match day 15 rescheduled encounter.

After a 45 minutes that produced no clear cut chance between the both sides, the hosts got a controversial penalty at additional time which was scored by Taofeek.

The second half saw a ding dong affair, but failed to produce any goal as the Oluyole Warriors take all points to move 11th position, 3 points ahead of United who are 12th.
