Plateau United edged Rivers United in the Nigeria Premier Football match day 10 fixture at the New Jos Township Stadium on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

In a tie characterized by 3 penalties, a red card and late goals, the 2016 champions defeated the 2022 champions 3-2.

Andy Okpe drew the first blood for the Pride of Rivers with a strike from the penalty spot in the 27th minute of the game after Adikwu handed the ball in the box.

Albert Hilary however equalled score 2 minutes to the end of the first half from the spot to score his 9th goal of the season as the half ended 1-1 following a foul on him.

Muhammad Umar gave the hosts the lead 9 minutes into the second half after Yakubu Adams' assist.

Rivers United equalled score 10 minutes later  through Endurance Ebedeberi who scored from the spot after Adikwu brought down Samuel in the box.

The Jos Boys were reduced to 10 men after Moses Adikwu was shown the red card in the 74th minute.

Yakubu Adams with 3 minutes to the 90th minute turned the hero for his side to score off Albert Hilary's assist disregarding the numerical disadvantage of his team.

The win takes Plateau United to 5th with 28 points.
