Bendel Insurance are the only team in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL with maximum points after winning their match day 5 encounter against El Kanemi Warriors at the Maiduguri Stadium on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com report.

The Benin Gunners got a 1-0 win courtesy of a first half strike by Deputy Echeta to ensure the newly promoted side remain unblemish since the start of the new season.

It was the home team that got the first attempt of the game when Amas  made a save in the 10th minute from a loop by the Warriors.

However, it was the away side that scored first as Echeta ran down the left flank and composed himself to slide the ball beneath Kehinde Ogundele's arm in the 29th minute.

Thereafter, it was El-Kanemi Warriors asking all the questions at the Insurance's goal, but the defensive line remained good to provide answers to all questions asked as the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Insurance.

The second half action started as both sides tried to settle into the game and it was not until the 55th minute that an attempt came courtesy of Imade who tried a long range shot, but it was inches away from goal.

Three minutes later, Amas was called into action by the Warriors and he was alert to grab a header from a corner.

The home team continued to push for that equaliser but a brilliant Amas on the day and resolute defending by the duo of Taminu Benjamin and Sunday Anyawu ensured the Edo Boys left Borno with all points.

Bendel Insurance becomes the 3rd NPFL team to win their opening 5 games after Kaduna United (2005) and Heartland (2015).

They remain top of group A with 15 points after f5 matches and play Gombe United in their next match on Sunday.
