NPFL MD17: Players, Coaches to wear black armband in honour of Brodericks-Imasuen
Nigeria Premier Football League has announced that players of the 20 clubs in the league will wear black armbands in their next match in honour of late Coach Sebastien Brodericks-Imasuen, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The players and Officials of the NPFL would wear black armbands while observing a minute silence for Brodericks-Imasuen who passed on at the age of 85 years in a private hospital in Benin, Edo State on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
NPFL chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye made this known while reacting to the demise of Sebastien whom he regarded as an Icon.
“Sebastien Brodericks-Imasuen was a Coach who made youth football popular in Nigeria and at some point in his career, he was one of those that heightened interest in the Professional Football League with a running rivalry with some other top club coaches like Willy Bazuaye, James Peters, Charles Bassey to mention a few.
“By his death, our country has lost an icon in the coaching echelon”, declared the NPFL Chairman.
He was a well known coach who coached a number clubs in the league and coached Nigeria U-16 team to win the maiden FIFA Cadet Championship in China in 1985.
He also coached clubs in the league like El-Kanemi Warriors, Udoji United FC and Bendel Insurance.
