Despite initially placing a 10 million Naira price tag on Ebele Obi, Nigeria premier league club Heartland have declared the goalkeeper is no longer for sale.

Obi had been publicly courted by rivals FC IfeanyiUbah, much to the disdain of Heartland, who wrote an official complaint to the League Management Company (LMC).

An official discussion on the possible transfer of the player however took place afterwards, with the LMC acting as intermediary, but with FC IfeanyiUbah failing to meet Heartland's valuation of the player, the 'Naze Millionaires' say they have now closed the door on any transfer of the player.

"Ebele Obi is no longer for sale," said Solomon Onu, press officer for Heartland.

"They (FC IfeanyiUbah) made an illegal approach for the playerans we reported the matter to the LMC.

"That was when they wrote us through their lawyers that they were interested in Ebele Obi and our management replied them with the player's valuation.

"And as at today, was told that Ebele Obi is no longer for sale."

Obi, older brother of Nigeria captain Mikel Obi, has since stopped training with the team to force through the move, a development which has also been confirmed by Onu.

"He has not trained with the team," Onu confirmed to AfricanFootball.com
