Businessman Akin Alabi has indicated interest to buy one of Nigeria’s foremost traditional clubs Shooting Stars.

The former Nigerian champions have been plagued by financial woes this season, and they have struggled to pay salaries of players and coaches, which has seen coach Kadiri Ikhana and his assistant quit their posts recently.

And AfricanFootball.com understands that there have been whispers by some individuals about a possible purchase of the club.

And this much seem to be confirmed by Akin Alabi, CEO of betting company NairaBet, which is Shooting Stars' shirt sponsors.

"We sponsored the club this season but it's not enough. Maybe we will launch a bid to buy it if Gov. Ajimobi permits," Alabi wrote on Twitter.

Sources have told AfricanFootball.com that no formal discussions have been held with the Oyo State Government - owners of the club - over buying the club over.

And it also remains unclear if they would be willing to sell the club despite the apparent interests.
