‘No Threat At Top Of NPFL ’
Wikki Tourists’ captain, Mustapha Ibrahim, has insisted that his side’s position at the top of the NPFL league summit, despite the goalless draw with Enugu Rangers last Sunday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
According to Ibrahim, the outcome of the clash against the Coal City side was expected as one of the challenges on the way to beginning champions this season.
“It happens like that at times but the key is that we did not give up the whole points. At least, we picked a point to stay atop of the log.
“However, our position at the top can be challenged by other competitors but not completely threatened.
“Despite the barren draw against Rangers we are still in the driving seat and we will not give up the prime position, no matter the stiff challenge.
“We had the opportunity to widen the gap at the top to five points, but the draw just happened.”
Ibrahim called on the club’s supporters to keep calm and keep fiath with the club, assuring that there is “no cause for alarm.”
“The management is pulling the string as well as motivating us to go all the way to achieve the lofty dream of lifting the league shield.
“We’ll be heading to Warri Wolves this weekend, with full force, to get something positive from the clash. At least, that will help us keep the top spot, while we steel ourselves to face newcomers, Niger Tornadoes in another testy clash.
“Every game gives us new strength to fight harder and, I believe, our dream will surely come to be a reality at the end of the season,” the club’s skipper said.
Wikki Tourists sit at the top of the log, with 42 points, two more than closest challengers Enugu Rangers.
