No Orban, Akpom as Peseiro releases 40-man provisional list
The 40-man provisional list of the Super Eagles ahead of the African Cup of Nations in Cote D'Ivoire has been released by Coach Jose Peseiro, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The list which was submitted to CAF on Monday with names of players like Gift Orban of KAA Genk and Chuba Akpom of Ajax missing in the list.
The omission of Orban who had been invited, but could not play due to injury may not be unconnected to his to the fact that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are unwilling to gamble with his controversial international status.
However, the reason for Akpom is still not known despite the striker's recent form.
Meanwhile, the list has 6 goalkeepers, 13 defenders, 8 Midfielders and 13 attackers with captain Ahmed Musa returning to the team after several omissions from Qualifiers.
The list also has three goalkeepers from the Nigeria Premier Football League, but player from the league.
