Newly appointed Napoli manager, Walter Mazzari has hailed Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen following his contribution toward the Azzuri’s 2-1 win away from home, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Mazzarri had a victorious start to his return away to Atalanta at the Gewish Stadium in Bergamo, a win that needed the support of Osimhen who is also just returning but from injury.

Osimhen had been out of action for a month now treating hamstring injury.

With Ademola Lookman canceling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s goal and the game heading for stalemate, Osimhen’s introduction proved crucial as the 24 year-old set up Elf Elmas for Napoli’s winning goal.

Mazzarri eulogised the Nigerian and labelled him a champion.

“Osimhen? We’re talking about a champion. He told me he could do 20-25 minutes [against Atalanta]. A player like that can make the difference; he makes the opposing defenses worried,” Mazzarri said per Napoli magazine.
