"?Manchester United are reportedly tracking Sporting Lisbon and Portugal winger Gelson Martins.

The 21-year old's form has also alerted Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid, with two goals and three assists to his name in the Primeira Liga.

According to the "?Mirror, Sporting are currently in the process of trying to negotiate a new contract.

His current deal is worth £2,000 a week and has a release clause of £50m which is unlikely to put off the world's biggest clubs.

United have previously signed Nani and of course Cristiano Ronaldo from the Portuguese club, the latter proving considerably more successful.

The twice capped international scored four times in 29 league games for his club last season as they came within two points of the league title.

His performances this season have helped his side reach second place but they once again trail Benfica.

Martins has clearly impressed his club manager Jorge Jesus in his time at the club, the 62-year old coach claiming: "In Portugal, there is no one like him."

If Manchester United are to get their man though, they will have to beat some stiff competition.

"?The Sun reported that Nou Camp chief Ariedo Braida revealed that Barcelona are keen on the young winger.

"What I can say is that Gelson Martins is being observed by us," he said.

"This is a young man with a lot of talent that Barcelona has observed and we will continue to do so. I can't hide that Gelson Martins is a target."?

Martins came up against compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League last month, with Los Blancos also said to be interested in bringing the pacy wide man to Spain.
