Nigeria's preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers have hit a snag, with defender Felix Agu emerging as a major doubt for the upcoming fixtures against Lesotho and Benin Republic, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Agu sustained an injury during Werder Bremen's 1-0 win over St. Pauli on Saturday, forcing him to leave the pitch in the 45th minute.

The 26-year-old left-back, who has made one appearance for the Super Eagles, was replaced by Isaac Schmidt and is currently undergoing tests to determine the severity of the injury.

Given Agu's history of injuries, his absence could be a significant blow to the team.

Agu's potential absence would further deplete a squad already missing key figures like Ola Aina, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Raphael Onyedika due to injuries.

Cyriel Dessers and Bright Osayi-Samuel have also been ruled out and replaced by Zaidu Sanusi and Chrisantus Uche.

Nigeria faces crucial World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho on October 10 and Benin Republic on October 14, with Agu's availability being a major concern for head coach Eric Chelle.
