Coach Patrick Bassey resigns as Ranchers Bees Head Coach, citing security, welfare failures
Ranchers Bees head coach, Patrick Bassey, has resigned with immediate effect, blaming security risks, poor welfare, and management interference for his decision, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
In a letter dated 2 December 2025, Bassey said that despite the team’s strong start—sitting second on the league table—the working environment had become “unprofessional and intolerable.” He alleged that the club repeatedly instructed the team to embark on unsafe night travels and failed to address threats made against him by supporters.
The coach also criticised inadequate welfare provisions, including the absence of a team camp, lack of basic equipment, and poor feeding arrangements. He added that promised benefits, such as mobility, were not fulfilled, citing an instance where he received less feeding allowance than players during a match in Kebbi.
Bassey further accused the management of interfering in technical matters, including disruptions during dressing-room talks and substitution decisions.
He said the conditions made it impossible to continue in the role. Ranchers Bees have not yet issued an official response.
