The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that its official inspection team will arrive in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania on Monday as preparations intensify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, CAF President Patrice Motsepe revealed during a press conference on Saturday afternoon, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Motsepe reaffirmed CAF’s full commitment to East Africa as hosts of the tournament, dismissing any speculation about a possible withdrawal of hosting rights. He expressed strong confidence in the joint bid by the three nations, describing the upcoming edition of AFCON as one that is expected to be highly successful.

“I am confident that the AFCON in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda will be enormously successful,” Motsepe said. “That is why I insisted that CHAN take place there to get them ready. We will not take the 2027 AFCON away from East Africa. A team is going there on Monday to start a serious inspection.”

The inspection exercise will focus on key areas such as stadium infrastructure, training facilities, accommodation, transportation systems, and overall logistical readiness in line with CAF’s established standards. Officials are also expected to evaluate the level of progress made by the host nations since earlier assessments and commitments were agreed upon.

Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania secured the hosting rights for AFCON 2027 through a historic joint bid, marking the first time the tournament will be staged across three East African countries. The decision was widely seen as a major boost for football development and regional cooperation in East Africa.

The upcoming inspection is regarded as a crucial milestone in the countdown to AFCON 2027, as CAF seeks to ensure that all preparations remain on track and that the region is fully equipped to deliver a memorable and well-organised tournament.
