Boniface: "I am not a bad player. It has not worked good for me with the national team"
Werder Bremen forward Victor Boniface has insisted he's not a bad player, despite struggling with the Nigerian national team, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
In an interview, Boniface admitted he's faced challenges while playing for the Super Eagles, but emphasized his commitment to representing his country.
“I have been unlucky with the national team in terms of scoring goals, even though there were a couple of games I was not good,” Boniface said.
“My biggest dream as a football player was to represent my country, and I achieved this, and I am grateful for this.
“Because it has not worked well for me with the national team does not mean I am a bad player”.
Before joining Werder Bremen on a season-long loan, Boniface had a productive stint at Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 32 goals and delivering 11 assists in 60 appearances.
He was a key player in Leverkusen's historic Bundesliga title win in the 2023/24 season.
However, after falling out of favor under new manager Erik ten Hag, Boniface sought a fresh start at Werder Bremen.
