Super Eagles striker Akor Adams has expressed his delight after playing a decisive role in Sevilla’s dramatic 2–2 draw against Elche on Monday night, scoring twice to help his side salvage a valuable point, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 25-year-old only returned to Spain on Sunday following Nigeria’s bronze medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles defeated Egypt in the third-place playoff. Despite limited recovery time, Adams was introduced after the break and inspired Sevilla’s comeback after they had fallen two goals behind.

Elche took control of the encounter in the first half through Aleix Febas, before Germán Valera doubled their lead shortly after the restart in the 55th minute. Sevilla struggled to break down the visitors until Adams was called upon to change the momentum of the game.

The Nigerian forward pulled one back with a close-range finish 15 minutes from time, giving Sevilla renewed belief. Deep into stoppage time, Adams stepped up confidently to convert a penalty and complete the comeback, sealing his brace and sparking celebrations among the home fans.

Speaking after the match, Adams highlighted his commitment to the team despite returning from international duty. “I came back for the match after a long tournament, the team needed me, and it’s good that the coach gave me minutes to energize the team and get the draw,” he was quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo.

Reflecting on the overall performance, the striker felt Sevilla deserved more from the game. “I think we let down a few small details. We played a good game that we should normally have won. Elche is a good team, but we had many chances, and I think we could have won,” he added.

Adams also stressed the importance of unity and focus moving forward. “The most important thing is the team. I watched all the games while I was away, and the results weren’t what we wanted. We managed a draw, I scored, and I’m very happy for the team. Now we are focused on what’s next.”
