The resurgence of Heartland FC have  continued under Coach Kennedy Boboye after thrashing Nigeria Premier Football League season leaders, Remo Stars to end the year on a high, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Naze Millionaires defeated the Sky Blue Stars 3-1 courtesy of second half goals from Promise Anyawu, Onyekachi Okafor and Chinedu Ike at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Thursday.

The first half had ended goalless with few chances created, but the second half hitted up with the host earning a penalty 4 minutes following a handball situation.

Anyanwu stepped up and send the goalkeeper the wrong way to score Heartland FC's first penalty of the season and give the lead.

George Jenom had the opportunity to double the lead 3 minutes later with a one-on-one situation, but his lob over the goalkeeper went over the bar.

However, Sikiru Alimi put Remo Stars back on level term to score his 11th of the season after Sodiq Ismail's assist in the 68th minute.

The game looked to be heading for a draw after 90 minutes and 5 minutes of added time.

However, the hosts scored to quick goals before the end of additional time as substitute Okafor scored the second with an acrobatic finish off Erikan's head assist.

And Chinedu's third after beating goalkeeper Bankole to send the crowd into a frenzy as the encounter ended in a sweet 3-1 victory for Heartland who now has 2 wins and a draw under Coach Kennedy Boboye.

Meanwhile, Coach Boboye after match confirmed the news of his sack by the governor of the state, Hope Uzodinma after 3 matches with club amidst encroaching the pitch to ask that he stays.

Boboye who was close to tears stated this was his late match and he asked the players to give Coach Christian Obi who is returning their best

When asked what if he continues to stay with the club, Boboye responded "I don't know because the number one citizen of this state has made a pronouncement and that pronouncement for me is the highest because he is the number one citizen. For now, I think it is my last game with Heartland Football Club

He concluded by saying that the players should continue fighting. "I told them even the Christian Obi that is coming, they should fight and give him the same support they have given to me.
