Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets have returned home following their campaign at the just-concluded U17 WAFU B Championship, where they finished third after a determined performance, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The five-time world champions began the tournament impressively, recording a 4-1 victory over Benin Republic in their opening match before settling for a draw against Burkina Faso in their second group fixture.

Their journey to the final, however, was halted after a 2-0 semi-final defeat to Ghana, ending their hopes of clinching the title.

Despite the disappointment, the Eaglets bounced back strongly to defeat Burkina Faso 2-0 in the third-place match, securing the bronze medal in style.

The team arrived back in Nigeria late Saturday night and is expected to regroup soon as preparations continue for upcoming international tournaments.
