Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants Cristiano Ronaldo to stay with the club forever after he guided them to another trophy,"? ESPN report.

The Portuguese wing-wizard struck the decisive spot-kick in Los Blancos' epic Champions League final penalty shootout win over city rivals Atletico"? on Saturday.

The 31-year-old struggled to impact the game initially, but Perez maintains that he is a key component of the team.

"Everyone knows I want Cristiano to stay here forever," Real's supremo told Antena 3 television. "He is one of the pillars of the team and of the history of the club.

"Real Madrid have made a new era with him."

After replacing Rafa Benitez as boss back in January, Zinedine Zidane has endured a whirlwind few months that have culminated in success and he was also showered with praise.

Perez continued "Zidane, for me, for Madrid and its history, has been very important.

"He changed history in 2002, and he has won the Champions League as a player, an assistant and now as the coach.

"All seasons are tough, but we fought to the end. La Liga is very difficult. We've fought.

"I won't say more. We had a good league, and we had a good European Cup."

Real's second Champions League triumph in three years came at the expense of their local rivals once again but Perez offered them his condolences.

He added "I would like to dedicate a few words to Atletico, our neighbour and friend. In the last few years, they have shown the level they are at.

"You feel for them because of the effort they have made, but I am sure they will win it in the future."
