Finidi George Eyes Improvement as Rivers United Gears Up for CAF Champions League Showdown
Rivers United head coach, Finidi George, has shifted focus to their upcoming CAF Champions League second preliminary round encounter against Mozambican side, Black Bulls, following a hard-fought victory over Les Aigles of DR Congo, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
The Nigerian club, often referred to as The Pride of Rivers, secured passage to the next round after a challenging contest with the Congolese team. Their next hurdle will be against the reigning champions of Mozambique, with both sides battling for a coveted spot in the Champions League group stage this October.
Reflecting on his team’s recent performance, Finidi acknowledged the need for tactical and technical improvements but remains optimistic about their chances.
“We are looking forward to the next round, which is the most important. We noticed a lot of lapses and mistakes, and that has pushed us to get better,” Finidi said.
“We will improve, and I’m not too worried. Now we have to plan properly for the next match, especially about our finishing.”
Rivers United will enjoy home advantage in the first leg before heading to Mozambique for the decisive away fixture.
