Former Inter Allies striker Fatawu Safiu will start pre-season training with the second team of Portland Timbers on Monday, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively report.

According to GHANASoccernet.com sources, Safiu has already been signed to a T2 contract but the Major League Soccer side are yet to officially announce it.

He will join compatriot Adam Larsen Kwarasey who is a new signing with the senior side.

The Portland Timbers also be inviting a number of trialists into training as the club looks to fill out its roster.

Timbers coach Caleb Porter said that T2 would have about a dozen trialists in training camp.

"There will be a number of guys coming in, probably a dozen, that will be looked at for T2, maybe even for us," Porter said. "We can trial them there first."

Safiu was Inter Allies top scorer in all competitions last season.
