Coach Fatai Amoo has said the Golden Eaglets will be gunning for victory in their opening Group B game of the U17 AFCON qualifiers against Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday.

Nigeria take on the Ivorians by 4pm local time Wednesday inside the Municipal Stadium in Lome, Togo.

It will be a crucial clash in the three-team first round group, which also has Ghana.

“The first game is always tough because if we did well, it will stabilise the team and that’s what we have worked for,” Amoo said.

“Three points from this game will boost the confidence of the team.”

Amoo said his boys are ready to go as they aim to qualify for the U17 AFCON in Morocco in July even after more than half of the squad was dropped after it failed the mandatory age test.

“The boys are prepared, they are enthusiastic to represent their fatherland,” he assured.

The two finalists of this tournament will advance to Morocco 2021.
