Nigeria Super Eagles B started their campaign of the 2024 African Nations Championship with a loss against defending champions, Senegal, on Tuesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The CHAN Eagles lost 0-1 against the Teranga Lions at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar, courtesy of a second-half goal by Christian Gomis.

A defensive mix-up in the Super Eagles’ defence 15 minutes from time handed the Teranaga Lions the opportunity to score through Christian Gomis.

Defeat means the Eagles occupy the bottom of group D without a point, following the earlier 1-1 draw between Congo and Sudan, which meant the two teams shared the spoils.

Next up for Nigeria is their second match of the group phase, against Sudan, also at the Amaan Stadium, on Tuesday next week.
