Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Plateau United have been knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup on Wednesday, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The team from Jos lost their second leg playoff match against Al Akhdar of Libya 0-3 to go out on away goal rule after it ended on aggregate (4-4) at the Binena Stadium, Benghazi, Libya.

Plateau United had defeated the Libyan side 4-1 last week at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja looking poised for qualification to the next round.

But it was not to be in Libya despite containing their opponent for more than 60 minutes as Al Akhdar scored three before the end of the tie.

The goals came in the 62nd, 87th and 90+3 minutes of the game knocking out the Peace Boys who had crashed out of the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League before dropping to the CAF Confederation Cup.
