Asante Kotoko are making their fourth MTN FA cup final in the last five editions while Medeama are looking to continue their dominance over Asante Kotoko in the cup competition after beating them in the 2012/2013 edition.

                      Road to the Final: Kotoko’s path to the final game against Medeama sc began with relatively easy competition as they walloped Paga Crocodile 4-0 in the Round of 64, before they defeated Birim DC United 5-2 in the Round of 32. Their next game however proved to be a fierce match against RTU as they managed a 1-0 win in the dying embers of the game to set a date with their regional rivals, Ashgold in the quarter finals. Kotoko were considered as underdogs, because their lackadaisical performance prior to that game which had seen them lose all their last four engagements against the Miners, but David Duncan’s sideplayed their hearts out and succeeded in beating Ashgold 2-0. In the semis, Kotoko faced another tough opponent Aduana Stars, but they silenced their rivals by a 3-1 score line to cruise to the final. Medeama also began the 2014/15 FA Cup campaign against lower division side Kade United, beating them by a slim margin of 2-1 in the round of 64. The Mauves beat Gold Stars 3-0 on penalties after their Round of 32 game ended goalless. Medeama also defeated another lower division side Gt. Astronomers 5-4 in penalty kicks, after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time in the quarter finals. In the semifinals, Medeama defeated Premier League side West African Football Academy (WAFA) with a 3-1 victory. Coach Tom Strand's side added Hearts of Oak to their victims by edging the Phobians 2-1 to set a date with Kotoko in the final of the competition. Though both sides have lost players as a result of the Black Meteors participation in the All Africa games, Sunday’s match promises to be exciting as football fans in Sekondi will see players such as Kotoko’s Ahmed Toure, Richard Mpong, Amos Frimpong, Abeiku Ainooson etc. Medeama is also expected to parade a team that will include FA Cup joint topscorer, Kwesi Donsu, skipper Muntare Tagoe, etc. The man appointed to handle this match is referee Joseph Lamptey with A.S. Malik and David Laryea as assistants. Referee William Agbovi will be the 4th official for the match that is set to kick off at 5:00pm (Live on Super Sports).
