The Benin Football Federation has appointed former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr as the new technical director of their senior national team. Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

It’s the first appointment of the Franco-German since he was relived off his job as the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in December 2021.

Rohr according to reports will be expected to resume duty on Tuesday 2021.

The Squirrels of Benin will be his fifth job in Africa with after coaching Gabon, Niger, Burkina Faso and Nigeria.

The 69 year-old will have to get his sleeves rolled up immediately as his first task which is qualifying the Squirrels for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire stares at him in the face with the first leg of the qualifiers against Rwanda just a month a way.
