Ashantigold have remained coy over reports linking the club with a sensational swoop for ex-Ghana defender John Mensah.

The 32-year-old, who is currently unattached after leaving Slovakian side Nitra FC two years ago, has been linked with a return to his boyhood club.

The miners are belived to be interested in splashing the cash to bring the strong centre-back to Obuasi with talks reported to be at an advanced stage.

But the club’s spokesman Kofi Yawson has remained coy on the growing reports in the West African country.

"The coach has hinted that he would make some signings before the start of the second roubd but presently, we cannot name any player on the line", he is quoted by ghanasportsonline

"We would love to keep everything low and do the deals.”

Mensah’s rather fine career has been blighted by injuries which cut short his international career with Ghana.
