Ashantigold chief Kudjoe Fianoo has backed coach Bashir Hayford to lead to the side to their first Premier League title in 20 years.

The miners ended the firs half of the season with  four-points clear at the top of the table and seven ahead of champions Asante Kotoko.

They are back in the midst in what is expected to be a keenly contested games in the second half of the campaign which kick-starts on June 7.

The title credentials of the Obuasi-based side has highlighted the headlines with coach Hayford earning massive vote-of-no-confidence among supporters to end their long wait for a Premier League crown.

But club’s chief executive Kudjoe Fianoo is confident the former Kotoko and Medeama trainer can guide the team to the Premier League title.

“I don’t understand what people are saying. Coach Bash is an experienced coach and will lead this team to success,” he said

“Didn’t he lead Kotoko to win the Premier League title? Somebody should tell me he didn’t.

“So that alone flies in the face of unwarranted criticism. We have absolute confidence in him and we believe he’s the man to help us win the title.

“I have no doubt in my mind that we’ll win the league and he will be in be charge when that happens.”

The miners travel to Accra to face Hearts on the resumption day of the second half of the season on June 7.
