Asamoah Gyan has revealed he was first made aware of Shanghai SIPG’s interest while he was making a donation in his native Ghana.

The 29-year-old was unveiled as the latest signing for the ambitious Chinese club at a ceremony on Wednesday.

Gyan stated his determination to help the side achieve success as he did during his four-year stay in the UAE with Al Ain.

The Ghana striker however revealed the mouthwatering deal offered him by Shanghai SIPG was first made known to him while making a $10,000 donation to the Cardio Center of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital last month.

“I was told about the club’s interest while I was in Ghana doing a donation,” Gyan recalled.

“Things happened so fast afterwards which shows that the club really wanted me here.”
