Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Akwa United have declared attacker Fortune Omoniwari to be missing.

An official of the Promise Keepers, Uwem Ekoh said the former Heartland and Sharks goal poacher has not reported or been sighted in camp for the past two weeks the side resumed training for the upcoming top-flight match.

“We heard various and conflicting reports concerning his unauthorised disappearance. We were made to believe that he travelled out of the country for trials while others say he is in the camp of a professional league side.

“If there is any iota of truth in the latter submission then it is unfortunate and unprofessional.

“We want to remind the football stakeholders that Omoniwari was bought outright by Akwa United in the mid-season last season.

“We know how much we paid Heartland and the player to get his services last season and as we speak he is still on our payroll and not on loan.

“Akwa United will go the extra mile to protest this act of blatant indiscipline by a player we virtually bent backwards to revive his ailing career.

“This also serves as a warning to any club that believes it can just grab a player without recourse to his rightful owner.

“LMC is already preaching decorum and professionalism as evident in the on-going Fifa run Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS) programme,” said Ekoh to supersport.com.

The Uyo-based side finished the concluded top-flight on 14th position on 47 points, 16 behind winners Enugu Rangers.
