Akwa United did their relegation battle a lot of good after earning a crucial away win against title-chasing Lobi Stars in the Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 33 encounter on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Promise Keepers piped the Makurdi based club 2-1 at the Lafia City Stadium to move two places away from the relegation zone.

Sani Suleiman connected well with Seyi Oguntayo's cross to send his effort into the net for the first goal for United on 20 minute before he doubled the lead on 68 minute.

Abubakar Aliyu trimmed Akwa's lead to one with 15 minutes to go, but it was not enough to stop the win.

Meanwhile, Kano Pillars hit three pass struggling Doma United in. 3-1 win at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

A goal each for Mustapha Ibrahim Yuga on 15 minute and Ibrahim Babawo 5 minute later gave Pillars a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Usman Musa pulled one back for Doma United with 10 minutes left to the end of the game, but Suleiman Idris restored the two-goal lead for the Sai Masu Gida side to seal the win.

With the result, Doma United who have failed to win their last 5 matches have now moved to the drop zone in seventeenth place.

In other results, Rivers United whitewash Lagos side, Sporting Lagos 4-1 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Porthacourt.

A brace from Andy and a goal each from Seiyefa Jackson and Samuel Antwi who opened score before Tochukwu Michael has equalised for Sporting gave the Pride of Rivers to big win.
