Looking ahead of the highly anticipated Group A encounter of the CAF AFCON 2023 between Super Eagles of Nigeria and host country, Coted'Ivoire, head coach of the side Jean Louis Gasset has said that his team are no under any pressure as they gear up for the showdown later this evening.

Coach Jean-Louis Gasset said to media in his press conference: “We are relieved; the pressure was so strong. We had seven players who started the match (against Guinea Bissau) who were playing in their first AFCON", Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

"Not everything went well, but we are relieved. All the matches we have seen have a different scenario. In the match of Nigeria, they had one or two opportunities against Equatorial Guinea".

" If you don’t make your superiority count, the opponent will become be confident. There are no more small teams".

“We’re Côte d’Ivoire and we respect every team but not scared of anyone.” He said when asked if he thinks his country can get past Nigeria on Thursday.

“We have a good team and are playing at home, we of course have the confidence to go on to have a good game. We’re going for the win because we’re Côte d’Ivoire and not afraid of anyone.” He concluded.

The last time both teams met at the AFCON, Nigeria ran out 2-1 winners, going on to win the title in 2013.
