AFCON 2023: Okocha backs Osimhen to shine against Ivory Coast
Austin Okocha has backed Victor Osimhen to have a good outing ahead of the highly anticipated second Group A match on Thursday of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023, January 18 between the host and Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Okocha revealed his support for the Napoli forward during his exclusive interview with CAFOnline.
Undoubtedly, Victor Osimhen, the striker and star for Nigeria is held in high regard but he still has to improve on some certain aspects that would take for him to live up to the expectations put on him and as a legend of the Nigerian selection who led this squad for a significant amount of time, Okocha is hoping that he has a better performance than the one against Equatorial Guinea, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.
“Victor Osimhen is undoubtedly a fantastic footballer and a top-tier goal scorer. He needs his team’s support, and I think he received it in the opening game”.
“We don’t always witness him passing up obvious chances. We have hope and faith in him because we know he can excel in any competition and I believe he is willing to make amends for his faults”, he added.
In the group stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023, this is the match that everyone is looking forward to as the Elephants play the Super Eagles in their second Group A match on Thursday, January 18.
