Talks ongoing between Roma-Manchester United for Smalling
Chris Smalling’s future at Roma remains a big talking point for Giallorossi fans, and it’s been confirmed that talks are ongoing to make his move permanent.
The 29-year-old joined the Lupi on loan from Manchester United over the summer, and in recent weeks the defender has become a key figure in coach Paulo Fonseca’s plans.
As a result Roma have begun talks to make Smalling’s move permanent according to intermediary Tiziano Pasquali, who also helped broker the loan move over the summer.
“Talks are ongoing but I don’t want to say too much,” he told NSL Radio TV.
“I want to keep a low profile because the discussions are at a point where answers and confirmations are needed.
“The player’s desire to stay or leave will be key. At the beginning he [Smalling] wasn’t playing a lot, but now Roma have become a real blessing.
“The goal is to play regularly and return to the national team.”
So far this season Smalling has featured in eight Serie A matches.
