Nigeria forward Peter Olayinka is set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines after undergoing successful surgery on his Achilles’ tendon, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Olayinka suffered the injury during Red Star Belgrade's UEFA Champions League clash with AS Monaco last week and was subsequently substituted.

The Serbian club confirmed the surgery, stating: "Peter Olayinka was successfully operated on in Finland by a renowned specialist after sustaining an Achilles tendon injury during the match in Monaco."
