Liam Rosenior has rejected the perception that his brief spell in charge of Chelsea made him a figure of ridicule, insisting: “I'm not a joke.”

Rosenior, 42, was appointed as Chelsea’s successor to Enzo Maresca following Maresca’s implosion and subsequent departure on New Year’s Day. The former Brighton and Hull player had earned a strong reputation during his time at Strasbourg and was highly regarded by the BlueCo ownership.

However, after an encouraging beginning at Stamford Bridge, Rosenior was dismissed only 107 days after taking the job.

He is now attempting to revive his managerial career at Paris FC, who sit fourth in Ligue 1. The club have won five, drawn two and lost two of their nine games under Rosenior.

In an interview with French magazine So Foot, Rosenior discussed the way he believes he was viewed by Chelsea supporters and the wider media.

“The moment that worried me most was actually at the start, when we went through that five-game winning streak,” he said.

“Any club would have been happy with such a run, but not Chelsea. You get good results and you're in the spotlight. Then, there was a kind of snowball effect in the media.

“They made fun of those instructions I gave Garnacho on a scrap of paper when we were down to 10 men against PSG. The clothes I wore became a joke, the way I spoke too. I'm not a joke.”

Rosenior’s time at Chelsea ended in disappointment, but he said he does not regret accepting what he described as the biggest challenge of his career.

“It was the best experience of my life, and the hardest too. It was fantastic, even though it only lasted four months. I don't want to go into details now; I'll talk about it one day, when the time is right,” he added.

The 42-year-old also questioned whether the reaction to his personality and appearance was connected to football, arguing that managers in England are expected to fit a particular image.

“But in a country where tolerance is an important value, what happened there has nothing to do with football. In England, there's this preconceived notion of what a Premier League coach should be, how he should behave.

“You have to conform to that standard. People who know me know that I'm someone who tries to be sincere and authentic.”

The French Professional Football League (LFP) has opened the tender for Ligue 1’s domestic audiovisual rights from 2027 to 2032, setting a December 3rd deadline for bids as it seeks to end a prolonged period of uncertainty over television income.

The process follows years of difficult rights negotiations, which have placed pressure on club revenues and produced deals below the league’s expectations.

For the first time, the LFP is offering all nine matches from each Ligue 1 round in a single package, using legislation that allows the competition’s rights to be marketed as one lot.

Potential partners can bid for the complete broadcast package or seek exclusive distribution rights for Ligue 1+, the channel owned by the league.

Ligue 1+ was launched in 2025 after the end of the league’s agreement with DAZN. It is showing every Ligue 1 match this season, after beIN Sports had previously retained the rights to one game per round.

“If we decided to test the market, it’s because we believe the environment is more favourable than in 2023,” LFP president Vincent Labrune told reporters.

“We will try to find the best combination of value, exposure and accessibility for our product. We’re approaching the process with relative serenity.”

The tender had originally been scheduled for the 2029-2034 cycle, but the LFP moved it forward after discussions with possible bidders.

“We realised that the interest was mainly in 2027-2032,” LFP media chief executive Olivier Bramly told Reuters.

“The platforms told us that this was the right time to do it for 2027-2032.”

Companies submitting offers must provide three elements: a financial proposal, a qualitative proposal and a financial guarantee mechanism.

The financial bid must exceed a confidential reserve price for the tender to succeed. The financial and qualitative aspects of each offer will then be considered together.

“The reserve price needs to be significantly above Ligue 1+’s projected trajectory. It’s ambitious, but not unrealistic,” Bramly said, adding that the figure was still being finalised.

“We have this comfort and this luxury because we have Ligue 1+, there’s no emergency.”

If no suitable offer is accepted, the LFP said it would continue expanding its own platform.

The league has held talks with about 10 potential partners and is especially targeting streaming companies. Bramly said digital platforms were showing strong interest in acquiring Ligue 1 rights.

Recent agreements have highlighted the increased appetite among streaming services for live sport. Disney+ has bought Spanish league rights in France, while Netflix has secured rights to the 2030 World Cup in Spain and Andorra.

“American platforms are reaching a bit more maturity in their thinking about sports content than they were two or three years ago, and that’s why we see the timing of this call for bids as much better,” Labrune said.

Bramly described the result of the tender as “very important for French football”. The outcome is due to be announced on December 4th.

Carlos Vicens has become the leading candidate to take over from Paulo Fonseca at Lyon, with the Portuguese manager reportedly nearing a return to Sporting CP.

Negotiations involving Lyon, Fonseca and Sporting are at an advanced stage, according to L’Equipe. Lyon are expected to receive approximately €5 million in compensation for Fonseca, while his departure would also remove his substantial salary from the club’s wage bill.

Fonseca is reported to have told Lyon’s players on Monday that he was preparing to leave. He had appeared emotional during Sunday’s victory over Angers, further fuelling speculation about his future.

Lyon have examined a number of possible replacements. Former Juventus manager Thiago Motta has been considered, as has Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage, although a return for Sage has been ruled out.

Vicens, who previously worked as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, has been in discussions with Lyon about the vacant position.

The Spaniard has been without a club since leaving Braga in October. Any appointment is unlikely to be made before the international break.

Former Chelsea and Newcastle United striker Demba Ba has stepped down as sporting director of Le Havre after only four months in the role.

The former Senegal international joined the Ligue 1 club in June after a successful spell with Ligue 2 side Dunkerque. However, according to L’Equipe, Ba has decided to leave as the Normandy club faces increasing instability.

His departure comes shortly after Le Havre dismissed manager Didier Digard. Digard was sacked following a 5-1 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain at the weekend.

That result left Le Havre at the bottom of Ligue 1, with just two points from their opening nine matches.

Club president Jean-Michel Roussier also resigned in protest at Digard’s dismissal, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the club’s leadership.

Le Havre’s owners, Blue Crow, must now rebuild the club’s management structure while attempting to revive a season that has started badly.

The latest Team of the Weekend recognises the outstanding individual performances from the past three days across Europe's biggest leagues, with PSG's Achraf Hakimi and Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen among the leading figures.

The selection is based on an internal player ratings system using key performance metrics and advanced statistics.

Verbruggen takes his place in goal after producing a series of important saves in Brighton's historic 1-0 victory over Manchester City at Etihad Stadium. Hakimi leads the defence following a superb display for PSG against Le Havre, while Ismael Baouf and Jan Paul van Hecke are also included after scoring important goals for Cambuur and Tottenham respectively.

Lamine Yamal continued his excellent form with two goals and an assist in Barcelona's 6-1 win over Getafe. Sondre Orjasaeter provided five assists for Twente, Yannick Carrasco scored a hat-trick for Al Shabab, and Gessime Yassine of Strasbourg and Genoa's Junior Messias also impressed in midfield.

Up front, Wout Weghorst scored four times in Twente's 9-0 victory against Excelsior. Lassine Sinayoko was decisive once again for Paris FC, scoring twice in a 3-1 win over Monaco.

Bart Verbruggen - Brighton, 9.0

Brighton's unbeaten start to the season continued with a first-ever victory at Etihad Stadium, and Verbruggen was central to the result.

The Dutch goalkeeper made seven saves to keep Manchester City's attack scoreless, preventing a total of 1.07 expected goals. He also showed his quality with the ball, completing 15 long passes - the highest total in the match.

Brighton are third in the table, five points behind the leaders, and have recorded six clean sheets in their nine games. That is more than any other side and underlines the defensive strength of Fabian Hurzeler's team.

Achraf Hakimi - PSG, 10

Hakimi produced a perfect 10-rated performance as PSG won 5-1 at Le Havre.

The Moroccan right-back scored the first hat-trick of his career and also supplied two assists. One of his goals came from a free-kick, while his six shots reflected the attacking freedom he enjoyed throughout the match.

PSG returned to the top of the table with a ninth consecutive victory in all competitions. The win also made Luis Enrique the most successful manager in the club's history, with 127 victories.

Wout Weghorst - Twente, 10

Weghorst delivered a standout performance in the Eredivisie as Twente overwhelmed Excelsior 9-0.

Following Nesto Groen's early dismissal for the hosts, the 34-year-old striker scored a first-half hat-trick, including a fine touch and finish to complete it. He added a fourth goal from the penalty spot after the interval.

The result moved Weghorst joint-top of the Eredivisie scoring charts, with eight goals in 11 matches. He also completed 90% of his passes in the final third and created another big chance for a team-mate.

Marseille continued their resurgence with a fourth consecutive Ligue 1 victory, beating Toulouse 2-0 at the Stade Velodrome to climb to sixth in the table.

The result also extended Marseille’s unbeaten run against Toulouse to 25 matches, equalling the club record for the longest sequence against a single opponent.

Only league leaders and defending champions PSG had entered the fixture on a longer winning run than Bruno Genesio’s side, who immediately showed the confidence brought by their recent form.

Marseille took the lead inside two minutes after winning possession in midfield. Amine Gouiri and Amine Harit combined, with Harit striking first time from 25 yards and finding the bottom corner with an early outside-of-the-boot finish.

Toulouse had been unbeaten in their previous five matches and responded positively. Jacen Russell-Rowe tested Jeffrey de Lange with a curling effort, before the Marseille goalkeeper produced an excellent save to keep out Thomas Jorgensen’s close-range attempt.

The hosts doubled their advantage after 25 minutes when they capitalised on another defensive mistake. Igor Paixao headed Rasmus Nicolaisen’s poor clearance into the path of Gouiri, who turned and drove a clinical finish into the far corner.

Marseille almost added a third moments later. Himad Abdelli, in good form, found himself with only Guillaume Restes to beat but inexplicably chipped his effort over the crossbar.

Russell-Rowe remained Toulouse’s main threat before the interval and went close twice. CJ Egan-Riley cleared his attempted dink, while De Lange reacted sharply to save the Canadian’s instinctive effort.

The duel between Russell-Rowe and De Lange continued soon after the restart. Within three minutes of the second half beginning, the Marseille goalkeeper again prevailed, saving Russell-Rowe’s volley from eight yards.

The match remained open, with chances at both ends. Casper Tengstedt fired over from inside the six-yard box, while Jorgensen volleyed directly at De Lange. At the other end, Paixao went close when his header struck the base of the post.

Toulouse thought they had reduced the deficit with just over 20 minutes remaining when Tengstedt tapped in, but a VAR review found the Denmark international offside after Santiago Hidalgo headed the ball back across goal. Hidalgo was then caught offside himself as Toulouse continued to press without reward.

Marseille now turn their attention to Europe, travelling to Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League. They are seeking their first points of the competition this term.

The defeat leaves Toulouse in a congested bottom half of the table, two points above the relegation play-off place.

Jeffrey de Lange was named Flashscore Man of the Match.

Paulo Fonseca is reportedly poised to leave Lyon and become Sporting’s new manager following the sacking of Rui Borges.

Borges, 45, was dismissed on Sunday (November 1), two days after Sporting’s 2-0 league victory over Casa Pia. The result left the Lisbon club third in the table.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fonseca, 53, will replace Borges at Sporting. The appointment would bring an end to his time at French club Lyon, which he joined in January 25.

Fonseca appeared to be emotional after Lyon’s 2-0 Ligue 1 win against Angers, prompting further questions about his future.

Speaking to Ligue 1+ after the match, Fonseca said: “Tomorrow I will be here, with the team. For now, there is nothing.

“Leaving? It’s a possibility. I really like this group; I think they are wonderful. Sometimes it’s difficult to understand the difficulties we are facing.

“What this team has achieved so far is incredible. No one could have imagined that, with all these difficulties, the injuries and the departures, we would be where we are.

“It’s not an easy time, but we are here doing the work. We are a family.

“That’s why we are getting these results. People need to understand that things are not easy for everyone at the club.”

Fonseca also praised Lyon president and sporting director Matthieu Louis-Jean for their work, while calling for greater understanding of the club’s situation.

“I think the president and Matthieu Louis-Jean, the sporting director, have done a great job, but there also needs to be some understanding, because this is not an easy time,” he said.

Asked whether he could turn down the opportunity to return to his “beloved Sporting”, Fonseca replied: “At the moment, anything is possible.”

He said he valued his current working environment at Lyon but could not confirm whether he would remain with the club in the near future.

“I don’t know. I really like being here - the club and the staff. It’s difficult to find people like the ones we have at the moment. I don’t know if I will be here in the coming days. Leaving during the winter break? Tomorrow I will be here with the team.”

If confirmed, the move would see Fonseca leave Lyon to take over at Sporting after the club decided to part company with Borges.

Paulo Fonseca says “anything is possible” regarding a return to Sporting CP, but insists he will be with Lyon’s players on Monday after their 2-0 Ligue 1 victory over Angers.

The Portuguese manager is Sporting CP’s leading candidate to replace Rui Borges, according to reports by Flashscore three days ago. Fonseca became emotional at the Groupama Stadium after Corentin Tolisso scored Lyon’s second goal on Sunday, prompting speculation that the match could be his last home game in charge.

Asked about his immediate plans by Ligue 1+, Fonseca said: “Tomorrow I will be here, with the team. For now, there is nothing.”

Explaining his reaction to Tolisso’s goal, he added: “It was an emotional moment when Coco scored the second goal. He came over to celebrate with me. We’ll see” whether the celebration was intended as a message for him to remain at Lyon.

Fonseca admitted that leaving the club was possible, while stressing his strong connection with the squad.

“I really like this group; I think they are wonderful,” he said. “Sometimes it’s difficult to understand the difficulties we are facing.

“What this team has achieved so far is incredible. No one could have imagined that, with all these difficulties, the injuries and the departures, we would be where we are. It’s not an easy time, but we are here doing the work. We are a family.

“That’s why we are getting these results. People need to understand that things are not easy for everyone at the club.”

He also praised Lyon president and Matthieu Louis-Jean, the club’s sporting director, for their work.

“I think the president and Matthieu Louis-Jean, the sporting director, have done a great job, but there also needs to be some understanding, because this is not an easy time,” Fonseca said.

When asked whether he could reject the opportunity to return to his “beloved club”, Sporting CP, he replied: “At the moment, anything is possible.”

Fonseca was then asked whether he would remain at Lyon until the end of the season.

“I don’t know. I really like being here - the club and the staff. It’s difficult to find people like the ones we have at the moment. I don’t know if I will be here in the coming days,” he said.

Asked specifically about leaving during the winter break, Fonseca repeated: “Tomorrow I will be here with the team.”

Tolisso said before his manager that he had no further information about the reports linking Fonseca with Sporting CP.

“I see what is being said in the press; I don’t know any more than you do. The coach hasn’t told us anything,” he said.

“Personally, I want to tell him to stay. We still have great things to achieve. Since he arrived, he has done an extraordinary job. I want to continue working with him. It’s a chance for OL to have a coach like him. He was very emotional.

“I had told myself that if I scored, I would go over to him to celebrate because you never know what tomorrow holds.”

Paris FC moved up to fourth in Ligue 1 after Lassine Sinayoko scored twice in a 3-1 victory over AS Monaco, extending their run to three consecutive head-to-head wins.

Rosenior’s side controlled a dominant first half and secured a third victory in their past five league matches. The result also allowed Paris FC to leapfrog Monaco, who are now without a win in four Ligue 1 games.

Both teams had struggled for consistency in recent weeks, but victory offered a chance to regain ground in a closely contested title race.

Paris FC made the stronger start and went close in the 13th minute. Pierre Lees-Melou’s long-range effort struck the right post before Ilan Kebbal sent the rebound over the crossbar despite being unmarked inside the area.

The hosts continued to put Monaco under pressure, with Moses Simon proving a constant threat on the left. His shot was deflected over the bar before he again created an opening by dribbling through the visitors’ defence. Simon’s cutback found Sinayoko in the box, but Monaco goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky reacted quickly to keep out the attempt.

Paris FC eventually made their pressure count in the 38th minute. After winning possession inside the Monaco penalty area, Maxime Lopez found Sinayoko, who turned and placed his finish into the bottom-left corner.

Monaco were second best for most of the opening period but nearly equalised before the interval when Aleksandr Golovin’s effort went narrowly wide.

Instead, Paris FC doubled their advantage moments later. Sinayoko raced on to a ball played over the top and finished beyond Hradecky to complete his brace and give the hosts a two-goal lead at half-time.

Filipe Luis responded by making two substitutions before the restart, including the unexpected withdrawal of top scorer Paris Brunner for Folarin Balogun. The changes did little to alter the pattern of the game, however, as Paris FC remained in control.

Lees-Melou tested Hradecky from distance early in the second half, but the Monaco goalkeeper got down well to make the save.

The visitors were handed a route back into the match with 25 minutes remaining. Balogun justified his introduction by bundling the ball over the line after meeting Vanderson’s delivery into the area.

Paris FC restored their two-goal advantage 10 minutes later. Sinayoko held off the Monaco defence with impressive skill inside the box before setting up Pablo Pagis, who swept the ball home for his second goal of the campaign.

The defeat leaves Monaco having lost momentum after beginning the season with a six-match unbeaten run and now facing a growing gap in the title race.

Flashscore named Sinayoko the Man of the Match.

Lyon climbed to third in Ligue 1 with a 2-0 victory over Angers at Parc Olympique Lyonnais, extending the visitors’ winless run to four matches.

The hosts appeared to have been awarded an early penalty when Zachary Athekane went down under a challenge from Jordan Lefort inside the area. However, referee Marc Bollengier reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor and overturned his original decision.

Lyon controlled the opening stages and created two further opportunities before the half-hour mark. Ernest Nuamah was denied by Anthony Lopes, while Julien Duranville’s attempt went wide of the side netting.

Angers had struggled to impose themselves but came close to taking the lead 10 minutes before the interval. Prosper Peter found space for a close-range effort, but his shot struck the left post.

That miss proved expensive three minutes later when Lyon broke the deadlock. Angers failed to clear a cross into the penalty area and Nuamah reacted quickest to the loose ball. After taking a touch, he guided his finish into the bottom-left corner to give Lyon a deserved advantage.

The goal strengthened Lyon’s position, with the home side having won their previous six Ligue 1 matches in which they scored first. They almost doubled their lead shortly after the hour mark, but Duranville’s first-time effort from just inside the area curled narrowly past the left post.

Angers had produced either a clean sheet or conceded five goals in their recent matches. A second heavy defeat never appeared likely, given their determined defensive performance, but they offered too little going forward to seriously threaten a comeback.

Lyon finally secured the points five minutes from full-time. Corentin Tolisso met a corner with a glancing header and sent the ball into the net, allowing the home side to play out the closing stages with a two-goal cushion.

The victory was Lyon’s eighth consecutive home win against Angers in all competitions. It moved them two places higher in the Ligue 1 table and left them three points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Corentin Tolisso was named Flashscore’s Man of the Match.

Everton are not expected to renew their interest in Folarin Balogun during the January transfer window, despite AS Monaco indicating the striker could be available.

A proposed £40M move from AS Monaco to Merseyside collapsed at the last minute after Balogun withdrew from negotiations. Sources close to the USMNT international said he had concerns about the way Everton handled his medical and the wider contract discussions.

The former Arsenal attacker reportedly did not feel comfortable continuing with the transfer, bringing an abrupt end to the deal.

AS Monaco have since suggested they would be willing to sell Balogun in January, while the player is understood to be open to leaving France. However, he is not expected to join David Moyes' Everton side.

According to the latest information from Football Insider, Everton have ruled out making a renewed offer for the striker. The club's budget cuts could leave Moyes having to consider a loan signing instead.

That would be a less expensive solution as Everton continue to rely heavily on Thierno Barry in attack.

Dion Beljo has been identified as a potential alternative. The Dinamo Zagreb forward scored 38 goals in his first season at the club in 2025/26, but a permanent deal could cost more than £35M.

Le Havre have dismissed head coach Didier Digard and accepted chairman Jean-Michel Roussier’s resignation after Friday’s 5-1 home defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.

The result proved the tipping point for the club’s American owners, Blue Crow Sports Group, with winless Le Havre bottom of Ligue 1 on two points.

In a statement, the owners said they had “accepted the principle of Mr Jean-Michel Roussier's resignation from his position as chairman”.

His departure will be formally confirmed at a board of directors meeting on Thursday.

Le Havre Athletic Club also said Digard had been placed under precautionary suspension while further decisions are considered as part of ongoing proceedings.

“Furthermore, Le Havre Athletic Club has notified its coach, Didier Digard, of his precautionary suspension pending further decisions within the framework of ongoing proceedings,” the owners added.

Jair Karam, the club’s youth teams director, has been appointed interim coach. He will take charge of the first team when training resumes on Monday.

Digard is the second head coach to lose his job in Ligue 1 this season. Lens dismissed German coach Dino Toppmoller after he had taken charge of only six league matches.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly joined the growing list of clubs interested in Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi after his impressive 2025-26 campaign.

The 20-year-old recently returned from a lengthy injury lay-off and made an immediate impact, providing the assist for Amine Adli’s goal in Bournemouth’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Leeds on Saturday (October 31). It was Kroupi’s first goal contribution since coming back into action.

According to TEAMtalk, French and European Champions PSG are the latest club to register an interest in the striker.

They face competition from Chelsea and Tottenham, while Arsenal and both Manchester clubs have also previously been linked with Kroupi.

The France-born forward has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe following his performances for Bournemouth this season.

Olivier Giroud’s late rebound secured Lille a 1-0 victory over Lens at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, sending Les Dogues into second place in Ligue 1.

The result gave Lille a fifth consecutive home head-to-head win against their local rivals and ended a run of four matches without victory in all competitions.

Lens created the first opportunity, but Thorgan Hazard’s early effort was hit straight at Lille goalkeeper Berke Ozer. The hosts responded when Ethan Mbappe cut inside and curled a shot from the edge of the penalty area narrowly beyond the far post.

Davide Ancelotti’s side continued to apply pressure. Soriba Diaoune’s close-range header was saved by Robin Risser, before the Lille forward struck the crossbar after a corner fell to him on the edge of the box.

Lens then regained some momentum. Saud Abdulhamid tested Ozer from a tight angle, but the goalkeeper blocked the shot with his legs to preserve a goalless scoreline at half-time.

Lille started the second half with the same attacking intent. Nabil Bentaleb quickly took a free-kick to release Mbappe, whose attempt was kept out by Risser.

Lens had a chance on the counter-attack after a Lille corner. Florian Thauvin raced forward, but a heavy touch as he approached goal allowed Ozer to advance and clear the danger.

Mbappe was involved again as Lille sought an opening, sending the ball down the right for Hakon Arnar Haraldsson. The Icelandic midfielder met it on the volley inside the area, but Risser reacted well to push the effort away.

The hosts appeared destined to be frustrated when Lens defender Kyllian Antonio stopped Giroud from making a clean connection with Calvin Verdonk’s delivery into the box.

But Lille finally opened the scoring late on. Bentaleb’s long-range effort was parried by Risser, and Giroud reacted quickest to the loose ball before beating the goalkeeper with a bouncing shot on the rebound.

The goal was Giroud’s second in successive league matches and earned Lille only their third victory in their past eight Ligue 1 home games.

The win keeps Lille in touch with leaders PSG at the top of the table. Lens, meanwhile, saw their three-match winning run in Ligue 1 end and remain five points behind Lille.

Robin Risser of Lens was named Flashscore Man of the Match.

Nice extended their unbeaten home run to nine matches with a 5-2 victory over Rennes, as Elye Wahi scored a hat-trick and dealt a setback to the Ligue 1 title challengers.

The result moved Nice up to seventh before the weekend fixtures, while Rennes stayed second but remain four points behind PSG at the top of the table. It was Rennes’ second defeat in their last three league matches, giving the chasing teams an opportunity to close the gap.

Both sides attacked with intent from the opening minutes. Adrien Thomasson fired high and wide for the visitors, while Nicolas Lemaitre raced from his goal to prevent Wahi from taking advantage of an early opening.

The Nice striker soon won a penalty after reaching the ball before the goalkeeper, and calmly sent Lemaitre the wrong way from the spot to put the hosts ahead after 12 minutes.

Rennes responded almost immediately. Mahamadou Nagida produced an accurate cross for Sebastian Szymanski, who headed past the Nice defence and into the net three minutes later.

Hicham Boudaoui tested the visitors’ goal with two ambitious efforts from distance, while Mousa Tamari escaped the offside trap but could only shoot wide under pressure from Youssouf Ndayishimiye.

Tamari’s miss proved costly when Nice regained the lead in the 34th minute. Jonathan Clauss weaved through several white-shirted defenders before Valentin Rongier brought him down, allowing Wahi to score his second penalty of the game.

Rennes came close to another quick equaliser. Yehvann Diouf kept out Boulaye Dia’s shot at the second attempt, then tipped a powerful effort from Nagida over the crossbar.

Nice instead added a third just before the interval. Wahi flicked the ball away from Anthony Rouault and into Clauss’ path, with the full-back finishing emphatically.

The hosts continued to threaten after the restart, with one Mohamed Amoura effort looping on to the roof of Lemaitre’s net. Amoura went on to score in the 52nd minute, completing a swift attacking move by beating both the goalkeeper and Nagida with a low finish.

Rennes reduced the deficit six minutes later. Niels Nkounkou fouled Tamari inside the area and Dia converted the resulting penalty to make it 4-2.

The visitors then increased the pressure. Rouault’s header from a rehearsed free-kick was saved, while Tamari headed wide from a corner. Nagida appeared to pull another goal back when he turned in Tamari’s low cross, but he had strayed marginally offside.

Nagida was involved in the decisive moment at the other end, failing to deal with a cross and allowing Gauthier Hein to set up Wahi. The forward completed his hat-trick, scoring his fifth goal in his past three matches.

Eliezer Mayenda shot narrowly over as Rennes looked for another response, but Nice comfortably secured their fourth win in five games.

Flashscore Man of the Match: Elye Wahi (Nice)

Paris Saint-Germain extended their winning run in Ligue 1 with a 5-1 victory over Le Havre at Stade CMA CGM Oceane, leaving Didier Digard’s side as the only team yet to win a league match this season.

The leaders dominated from the outset, recording 85% possession during the opening 10 minutes. However, their control did not immediately produce a shot, with Le Havre’s five-man defence helping to frustrate the visitors in the early stages.

Le Havre rarely threatened going forward and had already lost possession 14 times inside the first 15 minutes. Yet the hosts took the lead against the run of play shortly after Ferran Torres had missed an opportunity at the other end.

A swift Le Havre attack ended with Rayan Fofana sending a dangerous low cross across the area, which Josh Maja converted at the far post from close range.

PSG responded strongly. Mika Godts levelled in the 26th minute, sliding in to meet Achraf Hakimi’s delivery. Hakimi then put the visitors ahead two minutes later, although the goal was confirmed only after a lengthy VAR review.

Both teams registered further efforts on target before the interval, but neither goalkeeper was beaten again before referee Francois Letexier brought the first half to a close.

PSG continued to play with control after the restart and stretched their advantage in the 55th minute. Hakimi produced a superb free-kick, curling the ball beyond the reach of Arnaud Bodart and into the net.

Le Havre came close to reducing the deficit when Maja struck the woodwork just after the hour mark. Only 15 seconds later, their situation worsened when Bodart raced out of his area but was beaten to the ball by Senny Mayulu, who finished into an unguarded net to make it 4-1.

Hakimi completed his hat-trick with 20 minutes remaining. The ball appeared to bounce off the Morocco international and into the goal, but it was enough to silence the otherwise sympathetic home support.

The closing stages were largely about Le Havre preventing further damage. The defeat means they have now gone back to February for their last league victory at home, since when they have recorded four draws and six defeats.

PSG’s latest success also continued their recent dominance in this fixture. They have won 12 of their past 13 head-to-head meetings with Le Havre, drawing the other, and have won each of the last six matches hosted by Le Havre.

Flashscore Man of the Match: Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain)

Paris Saint-Germain have ruled out making a January approach for Bayer Leverkusen and Algeria international Ibrahim Maza, according to RMC Sport.

The French champions are assessing their options after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered a serious knee injury earlier this month. The Georgia winger has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury and could miss the rest of the campaign.

Despite having several attacking options available, PSG manager Luis Enrique remains open to adding to his squad during the winter transfer window.

However, the club are not prepared to overspend and will only consider moves for emerging players if suitable opportunities become available at reasonable prices. Maza, who has been highly rated, is therefore not currently under consideration.

PSG’s recruitment plans are also expected to extend beyond the attack. The club are examining potential reinforcements in other areas, meaning their January strategy will not be focused solely on finding a replacement for Kvaratskhelia.

Liverpool have intensified their interest in Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara after contacting the French club to stay informed about the player’s future.

Camara came close to joining Chelsea in the summer, but the 22-year-old remains a potential target for a future move to the Premier League. Liverpool have monitored him throughout the calendar year and are now exploring more actively whether a deal could be possible.

The Senegalese midfielder’s disappointment at not moving to Stamford Bridge has not affected his progress at Monaco. He has continued to establish himself as a regular starter in France, with his performances keeping him firmly in the sights of clubs looking to strengthen in midfield.

Liverpool’s recruitment staff identified Camara as a transfer candidate last month and the club are understood to be open to adding another central midfielder. They are assessing players who can provide energy, resilience and technical quality, attributes they believe Camara could offer.

The Monaco player is still at a stage in his career where he has room to develop, but he has already shown that he can perform at a high level in one of Europe’s major leagues.

It is not yet known whether Camara would seek a move in mid-season. Liverpool’s interest, however, means the club are positioned to examine the possibility, with any transfer ultimately dependent on Monaco’s stance and the terms required to sign him.

Chelsea’s interest has not disappeared completely, although their focus has moved towards Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott as they continue to consider options for midfield reinforcements.

Chelsea are willing to make a significant investment in that position, and a bid for Scott could come together soon. Their change in direction could give Liverpool more opportunity to pursue Camara, following the failed summer move that would have seen him arrive as Enzo Fernandez’s replacement.

Camara has responded to that setback by remaining a key figure for Monaco, while Liverpool have taken steps to ensure they are kept informed of developments surrounding his next move.

Paris Saint-Germain travel to Stade Oceane to face bottom side Le Havre on Sunday, with the two clubs meeting at opposite ends of the Ligue 1 table.

Le Havre are the only team in the competition yet to win this season. Their run represents the club’s worst start to a top-flight campaign this century, increasing the pressure on manager Didier Digard.

Paris Saint-Germain arrive in Normandy in far better form, having won their past eight competitive matches. They are strong favourites to claim another three points, while Le Havre are attempting to end a difficult sequence of results.

The hosts will be without Timothee Pembele, Elias Jelert, Felix Mambimbi, Lionel Mpasi, Stephan Zagadou and Ayumu Seko.

PSG are also missing key players. Ousmane Dembele is unavailable, while Marquinhos will sit out because of hamstring issues. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia remains sidelined by a cruciate ligament tear.

The match at Stade Oceane will begin at 18:00 UK time.

Confirmed line-ups

Le Havre: Gallon; Ouziad, Sasso, Mwanga, Touba, Koffi; Ndiaye, Ebonog, Richardson; Maja, Samatta.

Paris Saint-Germain: Safonov; Hakimi, Beraldo, Pacho, Hernandez; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Neves; Doue, Torres, Akliouche.

PSG’s listed form is LWWWW, while Le Havre have lost each of their past five matches, recorded as LLLLL.

Le Havre’s defensive problems have been a major feature of their recent run. They have conceded 11 goals in their previous four league games, leaving them with 15 goals conceded from eight matches overall.

At the other end of the pitch, Le Havre have scored only eight league goals. PSG have found the net 16 times and have conceded nine goals across their eight league fixtures.

The recent head-to-head record also favours the visitors. PSG have won the last four meetings between the sides, including a 1–0 victory away at Le Havre in February 2026.

Goncalo Ramos says he wanted to leave Paris Saint-Germain before his eventual move to AC Milan, but the French club refused to sanction a January departure.

The 25-year-old striker joined Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan in the summer for a reported €74 million after scoring 31 goals in 91 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain. Although Ramos produced consistently during his time in Paris, he was unable to establish himself as a regular starter.

He has made three goals in 11 appearances since arriving at the Serie A club.

Speaking to Canal 11, Ramos said: “I wanted to leave PSG, but it's always more complicated in January.

“It wasn't the best option, even though I wanted to leave in January. Now I understand better. PSG immediately said no, because they would have had to look for someone else. But Luis Campos assured me he would let me go this summer.”

Ramos admitted that leaving was emotionally difficult because of the relationships he had developed at Paris Saint-Germain.

“It was difficult for me to leave PSG, because the group was truly fantastic,” he said.

“There were the three Portuguese players I spent all my time with. They knew I wanted to leave and, jokingly, told me to stay, even if only for the atmosphere. We've experienced so many truly exceptional moments in this life.”

The Portugal international also described the frustration of scoring regularly without being rewarded with a starting place.

“Sometimes it was frustrating, I scored in four or five games in a row and I didn't start any of them,” Ramos said.

“A player in a good moment, he doesn't play, but I had to turn that frustration into motivation. They'll never be able to question my professionalism, my contribution, my determination.

“Of course, I was upset, but I turned that anger into fuel.”

Ramos said his move to AC Milan began to take shape during the World Cup, when he was in contact with his agent Jorge Mendes.

“During the World Cup, I was in contact with Jorge Mendes and Milan expressed interest,” he recalled.

Amorim’s arrival at AC Milan then helped move the transfer forward, with the manager making direct contact with Ramos.

“The coach, Ruben Amorim, arrived at Milan and called me. One morning, Jorge Mendes called me and told me the deal was done,” Ramos said.
