Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has admitted the club showed interest in Real Madrid winger Franco Mastantuono.

The 19-year-old is currently playing for Fiorentina after joining the Serie A side on loan from Real Madrid last summer.

Mastantuono has made seven appearances for Fiorentina across all competitions and has scored three goals.

Frosinone goalkeeper Lorenzo Palmisani has attracted interest from Juventus, Inter, Napoli and Villarreal.

The 22-year-old is being monitored by clubs from both the Italian and Spanish leagues, according to information shared on social media by transfer insider Ekrem Konur.

Palmisani remains under contract with Frosinone until the end of June 2031. His current transfer value is estimated at four million euros.

The goalkeeper has made five appearances in the current season of the Italian championship, conceding four goals. He has also kept two clean sheets.

Juventus, from Turin, and Milan-based Inter are among the Italian clubs interested in Palmisani, alongside Napoli. Spain’s Villarreal are also reported to be assessing the player.

Francesco Totti considered returning to professional football at the age of 48, with Como among the possibilities, the former Roma midfielder has revealed in his new book, Oltre.

Totti spent his entire playing career with Roma, representing the Italian club from 1993 until his retirement in 2017. He made 785 appearances, scoring 307 goals and providing 205 assists.

The Italian, regarded as a club legend, has now discussed the possibility of returning to competitive football in Oltre. The book also explains why he ultimately rejected the opportunity to join Como.

Brazilian goalkeeper Norberto Neto could return to European football after leaving Botafogo as a free agent, with Juventus considering an emergency move for the 37-year-old.

Italian transfer journalist Nicolo Schira reported on social media that the Turin club are assessing Neto as they look for a replacement for Kamil Grabara.

Grabara has suffered cruciate ligament damage and is expected to be out for an extended period, leaving Juventus in need of another goalkeeper.

Neto is understood to be willing to rejoin Juventus, having represented the club between 2015 and 2017.

The goalkeeper has also played in Europe for Barcelona, Valencia, Bournemouth and Fiorentina.

Roma defender Wesley Franca has suffered an injury in the match against Inter Milan and will be unable to pursue his plans to represent Brazil over the coming weeks.

The problem is not expected to affect his club schedule, however. According to derbyderbyderby.it, Franca should be fit to return for Roma’s next Serie A fixture, against ambitious Como on 11 October.

Former Italy footballer Daniele Adani has expressed his disappointment with the style of football Massimiliano Allegri has brought to Napoli, describing it as “wretched mediocrity”.

Adani said he found Allegri’s approach at the club highly underwhelming, offering a sharp assessment of the football produced under the Italian manager.

Allegri has previously managed Juventus and Milan. During his time with the Turin club, he won the Scudetto six times.

Frosinone have extended goalkeeper Lorenzo Palmisani’s contract until 30 June 2031, the club’s press office has announced.

Roberto Mancini has returned as head coach of Italy and says he is targeting further success with the national team.

Sergio Carpanesi, the former Fiorentina midfielder who helped the club win the first Scudetto in its history, has died at the age of 90.

Carpanesi was born in 1936, before the Second World War, and became an Italian champion with Fiorentina in 1956. It was the first of the club’s two Serie A titles, with the second secured in 1969.

Fiorentina reached the Coppa Italia final in 1958 but were beaten. Carpanesi left the club a year later to join Palermo.

He subsequently played for SPAL and Roma, winning the Coppa Italia with the latter in 1964.

Carpanesi ended his playing career in 1972 at the age of 36. He later moved into coaching but stopped working in football in the late 1990s.

Robinho Junior scored twice on his first start for Genoa’s youth team as they faced Atalanta’s counterparts.

The Brazilian’s goals marked an immediate impact for the side managed by Domenico Criscito, who now have a new attacking protagonist in their ranks.

Born on 19 December 2007, Robinho Junior also holds an Italian passport. Before joining Genoa, he made 19 appearances for Santos and provided one assist.

Massimiliano Allegri is facing growing tension at Napoli after a difficult start to the Serie A season and a reported breakdown in his relationship with the squad.

Napoli have collected seven points from their opening five league matches, while Get Football News Italy, citing Calciomercato, reports that the situation extends beyond the team’s results. Players are said not to be following Allegri’s instructions, with tensions continuing to increase inside the club.

The Napoli manager reportedly feels he has been “betrayed” by both his players and the club’s leadership.

Kevin De Bruyne’s position within the team is also understood to be a source of disagreement. Allegri believes the Belgium international’s current form does not justify making him the central figure of Napoli’s project.

According to the report, the club’s senior figures want the team built around De Bruyne, but Allegri considers that approach destined to fail.

Juventus forward Randal Kolo Muani has undergone successful surgery on a fractured finger on his right hand, the club has confirmed.

The France international sustained the injury during the first half of Juventus’ 2-0 victory over Atalanta. Medical tests carried out after the match showed that an operation was required.

Kolo Muani is expected to return to training in a couple of days, meaning his recovery is not expected to keep him out for an extended period.

The 26-year-old has scored one goal and provided two assists in six official appearances for the bianconeri this season.

Sergio Carpanesi, a member of Fiorentina’s 1955-56 Italian championship-winning squad, has died aged 90.

Carpanesi died on 21 September, La Nazione Firenze reports. He was the last surviving player from the Fiorentina team that won the Italian title in that season.

He spent four seasons with Fiorentina, making 31 league appearances for the club. He later played for Palermo, Roma, Sampdoria and several other clubs.

Among Carpanesi’s honours were the Italian Cup, won with Roma in 1964, and the Fairs Cup in 1961.

After ending his playing career, Carpanesi moved into management and worked with clubs in Italy’s lower leagues. During the 1982-83 season, he guided Prato to victory in Serie C2.

Maurizio Sarri will remain in charge of Atalanta despite the club suffering three consecutive defeats, according to journalist and transfer insider Nicolo Schira.

Atalanta’s board continues to back the experienced Italian manager, Schira reported on social media. The decision follows the club’s latest setback, a 2-0 away defeat by Juventus in Turin.

The result leaves Atalanta with six points from their opening five Serie A matches. They are currently 11th in the table.

Sarri’s side will return to league action after the international break. Atalanta are scheduled to host Venezia at their home stadium on 12 October.

Juventus are considering a move for former Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, according to football insider Ekrem Konur.

The 37-year-old is currently a free agent and has reportedly attracted interest from the Turin club, who are assessing their options for the reserve goalkeeper position.

Juventus are examining the possibility of signing Cillessen after Kamil Grabara suffered a cruciate ligament injury. The Poland international is expected to be out for an extended period.

Fiorentina head coach Paolo Vanoli says 19-year-old winger Franco Mastantuono has a big future ahead of him.

Mastantuono, who is on loan at Fiorentina from Real Madrid, was involved as his side drew 1-1 with Napoli in the fifth round of Serie A.

The Argentina-born winger has made seven appearances for Fiorentina in all competitions this season and has scored three goals.

Ruben Amorim says his Milan project remains at an early stage, despite the club’s strong 3-0 victory over Lecce in the fifth round of Serie A.

Amorim took charge of Milan last summer and saw his side move up to fifth in the table after goals secured a convincing home win against Lecce. The result left the Rossoneri with 11 points from their opening five matches.

Asked how far the club’s rebuilding work had progressed, Amorim said: “Milan are still at the beginning.”
