Nigerian centre-back Igoh Ogbu is set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering a head injury in Slavia Prague's league clash against Viktoria Plzen, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Ogbu was stretchered off in the first half following a collision with Viktoria Plzen's Jan Kopic and Svetozar Markovic.

The 24-year-old former Flying Eagles player is scheduled to undergo surgery in the coming days, with his rehabilitation process expected to last several months.

Provided his recovery goes smoothly, Ogbu could return to action by December, but his absence will be deeply felt by Slavia Prague in the meantime.

The Czech outfit will miss Ogbu's leadership and defensive prowess in their upcoming fixtures, including Wednesday's Europa League clash against Ludogorets Razgrad in Bulgaria.

Slavia Prague will seek to cope without their influential centre-back as they navigate a crucial period in their domestic and European campaigns.

The club's focus will now shift to his rehabilitation, with a potential return to action in December offering a welcome boost to Slavia Prague's title ambitions.
