FIFA U-20 WC: Take homes from Flying Eagles' 2-0 Win over Italy
It was a beautiful day to be a Nigerian as the Flying Eagles on Wednesday evening thrashed their Group D rivals, Azzurri of Italy 2-0 in their second match of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
Head Coach Ladan Bosso had marshall out a tactical strategy that lead to the outstanding victory of the Flying Eagles
Some of his victory strategy May include :
1. Slight Change in starting lineup:
Ladan Bosso decision to start Victor Eletu ahead of Tochukwu Nnadi did the magic for the attack
2. Strong physical Presence :
The Flying Eagles may not have played a fanciful game but the team used their dominance on the physical side to their advantage.
3. Great Confidence:
Their confident level was high and the build up was great to watch evading the attention of the Italian forwards especially after the introduction of Haliru Sarki.
4. Great defending :
The central defenders had a smooth interplay with the midfielders that worked out well
Although a yellow card was brandished towards Benjamin Fredrick who made a challenge on an Italian player
5. Chijioke Aniagboso's performance:
Despite having a clean sheet on Wednesday, there were slight moments Aniagboso was jittery in the goal
His performance improved in the second half as was able to deal with the crosses better however he had some difficulties with direct shots which needed second attempts to save.
