Falconets head coach Christopher Danjuma is confident that with good preparationhis team won’t disappoint at the forthcoming 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France.

The Falconets who are making their ninth appearance at the tournament are drawn in Group D along with debutants Haiti, the Peoples Republic of China and Germany.

The competition is billed for August 5 to 24.

Danjuma told reporters shortly before his team’s departure from Abuja Friday night to a training tour of Austria, that the team is well prepared for the tournament.

“We have a good chance of surpassing our best record at the tournament. The team is well prepared and I believe we won’t disappoint,” Danjuma told the media at the airport when asked about the chances of the team.

“We have studied our opponents and I believe we can deal with their strenghts.”

The Falconets flew to Germany Friday night from where they will head to Austria for a training tour.

From Austria, the team will depart to France, venue of the 16-team U-20 Women’s World Cup, where they will be making their ninth appearance, having participated in the event since inception in 2002.

Nigeria will take on debutants Haiti in their first game on 9th of August and the Peoples Republic of China on the 13th of August.

Their final group game is against Germany three days later.

The Falconets finished runners-up twice in 2010 and 2014, losing to Germany on both ocassions.
