Nigeria's U-23 national  team on Tuesday secured their place in the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt in November following their 5-0 win over Sudan in the return leg of their Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifier at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Taiwo Awoniyi, Ndifreke Effiong (brace), Sunday Faleye and Ibrahim Sanusi scored Nigeria's goals to advance 5-1 on aggregate.

The Eagles had lost 1-0 in the first leg in Omdurman last Thursday.

Nigeria scored three first half  goals through Taiwo Awoniyi and a brace from Ndifreke Effiong.

Awoniyi scored the first goal in the ninth minute through a header while Effiong doubled Nigeria's lead in the 27th minute with another header.

Effiong made it 3-0 two minutes before the half time break with a close range finish profiting from an Ebube Duru cross into the Sudanese box.

Olabiran and Sanusi both let fly shots early in the second half but they both missed targets while the U-23 Eagles had a handball call in the opposition box waved away by the referee.

Coach Imama Amapakabo made an attacking substitution in the 63rd minute with Sunday Faleye replacing the impressive Olabiran and he scored with his first touch of the ball after the Sudanese goalkeeper spilled the ball.

Faleye turned provider as he assisted Sanusi for the fifth goal of the match.

Stephen Odey who came off the bench in the second half fell theatrically in the Sudanese box.
