Nigeria’s Special Eagles finished as runners up in the 2019 Amputee African Cup of Nations, losing 2-0 in the final to hosts Angola.

Special Eagles top goal scorers Kelvin Kingsley, Oyeleke Sarafadeen and Grema Mohammed couldn’t add to their tallies on Friday as Angola dominated the game from starting to finish.

However before Friday’s final, President of the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation, Suleiman Isah lamented the lack of support  for the team before and after the tournament.

He claimed that the Ministry of Sports and Federation government haven’t done anything for the team, as they travelled for the tournament in Angola with borrowed funds.

“Unfortunately, the only support we got was from the Nigeria Football Federation and it is not enough to cover the cost of flight tickets, forcing us to drop some players.

“We got tickets on credit just as we also procured jerseys, tracksuits, boots and other equipment on credit. We are hoping that the Ministry of Sports will approve some aid for us but we are not certain,” he added.
