The Confederation of African Football CAF has announced the draw result for the Preliminary Round of the African qualifiers for 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. which has set up an interesting pairings between some of the low ranked teams in the continent, Completesports.com reports.

CAF had 28 low ranked teams in the continent in the Preliminary Round draw, And the the result shows some interesting fixtures.

The draw has pitted West African sides, Liberia and Sierra Leone against each other, to fight for a berth in the group stage, while Mauritius will take on Mozambique.

Another interesting fixture is one between Burundi and Tanzania – two sides that couldn’t progress beyond the group stage of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Gambia will play host to Angola, while Sao Tome and Principle host Guinea Bissau.

26 top ranked teams in African football, including Nigeria’s Super Eagles, will join up with the 24 that will emerge from the Preliminary Round for the group stage of the African qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

All the Preliminary Round matches will be played between September 2 to 10, 2019.
