Wa residents demonstrate against government white paper on Ghana FA, president Kwesi Nyantakyi

Residents of Wa, the Upper East Regional Capital of Ghana took to the streets on Saturday morning in a massive demonstration against the government for allegedly witch-hunting the President of the Ghana Football Association with the release of the White Paper on the report of the 2014 World Cup Commission of Inquiry. 

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama appointed a three-man body headed by Justice Senyo Dzamefe to look into Ghana's calamitous campaign but their recommendations have described as bias and calculated to tarnish the image of the Ghana federation and its president.

Many soccer enthusiasts have argued that the government in a deliberate attempt is frustrating the leadership of the GFA with Kwesi Nyantakyi as their president to force them out of office but the people of Wa think that will only happen when the entire township of Wa is no more.

With the procession numbering over five hundred (500),  most of the protesters carried placards and banners, with the inscription,  'Fix dumsor and leave football for us', 'stop harassing our son or forget 2016', 'how much did you fly to Brazil', 'Yeye white paper only makes Wa cry more', among others.

Speaking to ghanasoccernet.com, the spokesperson of the group, Concerned Sports Journalists of Wa, Ismail Saani Abacha reiterated how relevant it was to stage the demonstration as they believe the government of the day is not being fair and just to their illustrious son, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

"It is clear since this government took over power in 2008 that they want to frustrate Nyantakyi yo leave the seat of Presidency in Ghana Football but we want the government," Abacha said.

"To know that football is different from party politics. President Mahama and his administration must concentrate on fixing the current power crisis of the country and leave our man alone.

"Does he know the number of lives Nyantakyi has transformed throughout the country? Please if they tamper with our man, they must know they are tampering with their votes in 2016.

"Since Nyantakyi took over as President of the GFA, there has been massive transformation in Ghana Football and if the government does not want an addition, it must not take us backwards," he added.

The demonstration saw the protesters matching throughout the principal streets of Wa and finally landed at the Regional  Central Mosque where they brought the protestations to an end.
