Troost-Ekong prefers local coach for Super Eagles

Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has voiced his preference for a local coach to lead the national team, amidst uncertainty over the Nigeria Football Federation's (NFF) selection process, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports:

The NFF has yet to appoint a permanent head coach for the Super Eagles following the departure of Jose Peseiro in February.

Troost-Ekong, speaking on Eagles FM during a radio program, expressed his desire for a coach with a deep understanding of Nigerian football and culture.

"I think that will be the ideal situation for our team to be honest," declared the centre-back as par Daily Post.

The discussion around potential candidates includes former international Emmanuel Amuneke, alongside foreign contenders Domenec Torrent and Antonio Conceicao.

Acknowledging his positive experiences under both local and foreign coaches, Troost-Ekong emphasized the importance of selecting the best candidate for the team's success.

"I like to think beyond nationalities and political positions. I like to think whatever decision that will be made will be the best for the team," he concluded.
