Enyimba International of Aba got off to a fine start in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL on Saturday after they got a win over Nasarawa United at the Jos Township Stadium.

The People's Elephant defeated the Solid Miners by two goals to one to put themselves in the right momentum with their first match of the league campaign.

The eight times winners of the league scored two first half goals before the home team scored what became a consolation goal to take the day after 90 minutes.

Elijah Akanni caught goalkeeper David Yinka chasing shadows after his screamer from yards out rattled the net to make it one nil in the 32nd minute. The assist came from Chijioke Mbaoma.

Imo Obot doubled the lead for the visitors with a stunning freekick from the right frank in the 37th minute.

The Solid Miners were more expressive in the second phase of the game mounting pressure to get a goal, but for good goalkeeping and resolute defense the goal didn't change.

Until the 87th minute when the referee signalled to spot after Pascal Eze handled the ball in the box.

Ikenna Offor took the penalty, Ojo guessed right to save but Oche Josiah headed home the rebound to make it 1-2.

Expectedly, the remain part of the match was tensed for Enyimba who had to defend well to keep the score as it was and take maximum points at the final whistle.
